Aloha Hofner Hounds,
Raking through my archives, I stumbled upon these two items. One is a membership cars for an Oooo Laaa Posh Liverpool club. where we played on their Opening night. And the other is a list of the songs we played in our first spot. ( It is called a "Set" now ? ? ? )
I am sure some of those who lived through the 60s and 70s, will remember those songs; and maybe bring back some nice memories form their past.
Still no leather handle yet, but the search continues.

Take care everyone, and be safe; as there are a lot of dangers out in the world of today.

Aloha to all Hofner Hounds, where ever you may be in the world..

Alfie.

Aloha Hofner Hounds,
Jet Harris was the bass player of a group called the "Shadows", who backed Cliff Richard; back in the sixties. For some well known reasons, he was replaced; and seemed to vanish in the haze of the music scene.

As a bass player, he had a style of his own; which few could copy, and why I admire him as a musician.
My favourite track was on the Shadows 1962 LP, which was called NIVRAM. ( Marvin backwards )

This is one of his last shows where he plays NIVRAM, and you can see that he is struggling; but like a true performer, carried on.

I have never been able to copy NIVRAM, note for note; so maybe you people can.

One really bad thing was he was refused an invitation to the 50th Shadows reunion, which I felt was a bit "Sour grapes" by them; considering the time frame. Crying or Very sad

Jet died of cancer in March 2011, and left many people who lived through the 60s; sad to loose such an icon of those times.
This is his web site:-

Take care everyone, and be safe.
My Aloha to you all.
Alfie.

Hi Alfie - you sure bring back fond memories - I still love reading all your stories.

I too was a Jet fan and yes, I still have my original 1962 Shadows vinyl album! Our schoolboy band 'The Hi-Lites' was formed in '63 and I was told that I had to learn Nivram -  that if I could learn to play it, then I would have truly made it as a bass player. So I listened to it endlessly (on the SW/MW radio fed from the BSR turntable - no hi-fi system in our home) but just wasn't clever enough to work it out. Fortunately my musician sister was able to transcribe most of it and after that we had a lot of fun playing this number at birthday parties. It even got me an invite for a couple of gigs with an older band.

Sadly, like your case handle, my Nivram transcription has disappeared in the mists of time and I can no longer play it. However I do hang onto an open real tape m/c and 1/4" tape we made while practicing in my parent's lounge - maybe one day I'll work out how to convert it to digital ........

Is this of any use? I've still got my vinyl Shadows LP; Nivram is still one of my favourite tracks..... Smile
