Hey all, Question. I bought an old Hofner 67   just the body. Needed pickups and Bridge. I ordered a bridge online and when I installed it it seems way taller then I remember. Strings are really high. Did Hofner have two different types of Bridges? I thought I remember my old 68 it was thinner. Not as High towering over the bridge pickup. It has a short tailpiece. If that makes a difference.

thanks

Are you thinking the bridge is too thick from bottom to top or do you think the mounting plate is too thick? Is the top of the bridge contoured for intonation or is it radiused across from side to side? Rosewood?

Did you check the measurements of your instrument?
- First check the neck adjustment.
- Second check the string height as Höfner recommends:
Setup Action Bass String at 12th Fret 3mm
Action Treble String at 12th Fret 2mm

I hope this information helps you.

I had to replace the bridge on my 67. It too was too high. Most replacement parts are spec'ed to the 63 with staple pups. They sat higher than the blades. I sanded my new bridge down on the upper part's bottom that sits on the thumbscrews. It didn't take too long and I got my action right where I like it.

Did you repair the action on the bridge?
